Kylian Mbappé receives 10 votes in French presidential election
L’Est Républicain report that the second round of the French presidential election this Sunday saw 10 votes cast in favour of Paris Saint-Germain striker, in the eastern village of Tallenay. The Ligue 1 top scorer’s supporters – 10 of the 348 voters registered there – had printed out pre-prepared ballot papers and placed them in their envelope. The ballot papers were nevertheless invalid, given that the run-off was pitting incumbent president Emmanuel Macron against far-right candidate Marine Le Pen. Lyon enquire for Watford midfielder Moussa Sissoko
L’Équipe report that along with West Ham defend Issa Diop, Lyon have also enquired over Watford midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The French international’s contract expires at the end of next season, but could be set to leave this summer for a meagre fee with the Hornets in all likelihood going down. The former Tottenham Hotspur man’s name came up in a meeting with his agent, who is also that of Issa Diop, with both being former Toulouse players. Younes Belhanda targeted for Montpellier return
Betrand Queneutte is reporting that should Rémy Cabella (32) and/or Téji Savanier (30) leave Montpellier this summer, the club will seek to bring in ex-player Younes Belhanda (32). Belhanda notched up 127 appearances for the side over the course of 4 years, scoring 26 goals, and Queneutte, speaking on 100% Paillade, says that Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin hasn’t ruled out repatriating their former midfielder. LFP open investigation as far-right banner displayed at Lorient-Reims
RMC Sport report this afternoon that the LFP – Ligue 1 authorities – are set to open an investigation after a far-right banner was displayed at yesterday’s Lorient-Reims game. A French flag with a Celtic cross in the middle – a symbol heavily associated with far-right groups in France – was held up in the away end. In particular, it has been linked to the extremist students’ group Groupe Union Défense, as has been pointed out by the Lorient section of the Human Rights League. In an interview published inL’Équipe, FFF president Noël Le Graët has indicated that he has not contacted Zinédine Zidane for the France job, and believes that the former midfielder could join Paris Saint-Germain. OGC Nice and Lille targeting Saint-Étienne’s Denis Bouanga
le10sport are reporting that Saint-Étienne winger Denis Bouanga (27) is a target for OGC Nice. The Gabon international only has one year remaining on his contract and is also attracting interest from Lille. Last year, Marseille and Rennes were both deterred by the €20 million price tag. Sharks director of rugby Neil Powell praised the improved performance from his team in their 39-31 Champions Cup victory against Harlequins in Durban on Saturday. Arnaud Nordin to join Montpellier
Saint-Étienne’s Arnaud Nordin (23) will join Montpellier when his contract with Les Verts expires this summer, according to L’Équipe. The forward will leave his formatory club when his contract expires on 30th June, despite the best efforts of the club to get him to renew his current deal.
