Wales not expecting ‘attractive rugby’ from Schmidt’s Ireland in Cardiff
Murray Kinsella reports from the Millennium Stadium WALES ASSISTANT COACH Robin McMcBryde says he doesn’t expect Ireland to bring an open style of rugby to the Millennium Stadium tomorrow as they search for a fourth Six Nations victory in 2015. A win of any kind is likely to have Schmidt smiling tomorrow. Source: James Crombie/INPHO All that stands between Joe Schmidt’s side and a Grand Slam is two wins against Wales and Scotland, both on the road. Tomorrow’s clash in Cardiff would appear to be the more demanding of those ties on current form, with the Welsh buoyed by their win in Paris in round three. There has already been…

Simon Easterby: Any issues with Irish lineout have already been fixed
“Certainly in the first half we didn’t react particularly well on our own ball but also theirs; we gave them some serious momentum. We turned it around in the second half, we fixed a few things and were far more dominant. All the things we didn’t get right are easily fixable and have been in the first couple of days this week.” Analysis: Ireland get taste of own medicine in early stages against Wales Easterby is expecting another challenge at lineout time from the Scots. “Of course. They had a pretty effective lineout on the weekend, won all of theirs and stole of a few of England’s,” he says. “They’re…

The Pro12’s record try-scorer is moving to England next season
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER big rugby transfer. Edinburgh’s top-class wing Tim Visser will be playing for Harlequins next season after scorching down the touchline for the Scottish side for the last six seasons. Visser was born in the Netherlands but signed for Newcastle after being spotted by a scout at the Amsterdam Sevens. In 2009 he moved to Edinburgh and remarkably was the top try-scorer in the Pro12 for his first four seasons there. Click Here: 2021 soccer tracksuit He hasn’t been as prolific since 2013 but he remains one the competition’s most clinical finishers and has played for Scotland 18 times. Madigan’s place-kicking deciding games for O’Connor’s Leinster
GOAL-KICKING IS an aspect of rugby we can sometimes take for granted. Perhaps the regularity with which we see the skill performed at expert levels is the reason for that. Men like Ronan O’Gara, David Humphreys, Eric Elwood and Johnny Sexton have essentially decided games with their efforts from the tee in recent years, but we often remember the misses more than the successes. Ian Madigan was six from six off the tee last weekend. Source: Ryan Byrne/INPHO A study by New Zealand Rugby’s Senior Scientist, Ken Quarrie, last year highlighted that 45% of all points in 582 international rugby matches between 2002 and 2011 came from place-kicks. Leinster’s exploits in the Champions…

Savea absolutely butchered an almost-brilliant Super Rugby try
THE HURRICANES LOST for the first time in Super Rugby this season earlier today, as Michael Cheika’s Waratahs emerged from Wellington with a 29-24 win. A double from Peter Betham as well as further tries from Will Skelton and Isreal Folau did most of the damage for the Tahs, with out-half Bernard Foley kicking the remaining nine points from the tee. Conrad Smith, Beauden Barrett, Brad Shields and TJ Perenara all dotted down for the Canes, but they might be rueing the major missed opportunity they had this morning too. Inconsistency the big issue Leinster need to address — Matt O’Connor
Click:china tin suppliers WITH TWO GAMES remaining in the Pro12 season, there is nothing left for Leinster to play for except for guaranteeing a Champions Cup place. Sitting down to ponder a trophy-less season after losing to Ulster in Ravenhill (as 11 other teams have this season), head coach Matt O’Connor found himself ruing, not incidents that went against him on the night, but the missed opportunities that put them in a position of needing a win in Belfast to keep their claws in the playoff race a little longer. Source: Morgan Treacy/INPHO “We made it hard for ourselves. We lost games in the course of the league that we…

Munster’s new All Blacks signing provided a delicious assist for this try
MUNSTER FANS ARE understandably excited to welcome twice-capped New Zealand centre Francis Saili to the province next season, and may be even more so after watching him in action for the Blues this morning. While Sir John Kirwan’s side continued their appalling season with a 42-22 defeat to former Munster coach Tony McGahan’s Rebels, Saili had a good game featuring a few moments of class. None more so than the sublime pass he threw to assist Melani Nanai’s first-half try. Click Here: Eden Hazard jersey sale Nanai had to reach high to gather in Saili’s pass, but it’s still extremely impressive over that distance and moving at that pace. The…

Munster, Ulster and Connacht will all be in playoff action next weekend
THE FINAL DAY of the Pro12 was every bit as riveting as we had hoped, with more leap-frogging going on than in a lunch time playground as teams fought for home semi-finals and Champions Cup participation. Paul O’Connell scored Munster’s fifth try at Musgrave Park. Source: Billy Stickland/INPHO Munster and Glasgow were the big winners, with both teams securing bonus point wins against the Dragons and Ulster respectively, to book home advantage in the final four next weekend. The Ospreys will be particularly annoyed with their second half display in Galway, as they couldn’t find a bonus point try despite scoring three in the opening forty. Their second half drought…
