Gérard Lopez’s right-hand man confirms Lille purchase will go ahead
Speaking to our colleagues at RMC, the right-hand man of prospective Lille buyer and former Formula 1 team Lotus boss Gérard Lopez, Marc Ingla (future General Manager of Lille), move to quell concerns that the Luxembourg businessman had got cold feet about purchasing the Ligue 1 club.
“We met Michel (Seydoux) at the end of September. We ate at Luchin, there was chemistry and we could see from the first minute that we would be doing a deal… We are missing certain little points but we are quite close. This is the end… Mid-January is a reasonable date… We are going to try to close this at a reasonable date so that we can do things in January.”
Ingla then moved to discuss the upcoming transfer window in more detail:
“We are preparing for the January window. We are in discussions with Luis Campos. We have players who are going to leave, like Civelli. We have the African Cup of Nations too. We want to kick the project off as soon as the deal is closed, so we are already working for Lille, in the dark as the English say. There are some interesting things we can do. We have contacted agents. We have spoken with the clubs. You have to do things properly. Depay and Sakho? I would prefer not to be specific! But I do not think that they will be coming to Lille, if you want an answer.”
