Scotland: Stuart Hogg returns at full-back while Adam Hastings handed fly-half role for Fiji Test

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has brought in the English-based players for Saturday’s Autumn Nations Series encounter against Fiji.

Among those to return is former skipper Stuart Hogg, who starts at full-back and is alongside Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe in the back three.

Hogg was stripped of the captaincy ahead of this series with Jamie Ritchie taking the responsibility – making his debut in the position against Australia.

Several backline alterations

There are three more new faces in the backline as Chris Harris and youngster Cameron Redpath, who wins his third cap, combine at centre, while Adam Hastings is preferred at fly-half.

Gloucester’s Hastings missed last weekend’s match due it being outside the international window, but he gets his chance to impress against the Flying Fijians on Saturday.

Up front, there are two alterations as Richie Gray makes a first international start since 2017 and George Turner comes in at hooker.

Strong bench

Scotland’s bench is also strengthened significantly as the English-based Ewan Ashman, Jonny Gray and Ben White are all among the replacements.

Rory Sutherland, Murphy Walker, Jack Dempsey, Blair Kinghorn and Sione Tuipulotu complete the 23-man squad.
