France economy minister confirms Kylian Mbappé ‘will pay a lot of tax’ in France
According to L’Équipe, the French ministry of the economy has reacted joyfully to figures on Kylian Mbappé’s salary. The minister of the economy, Bruno Le Maire, said that the €630m reported value of Mbappé’s contract was a good thing for France:

“It’s a good thing, he will pay a lot of tax – it’s good that he pays them to France rather than elsewhere. If he went to Real Madrid on the same salary, the French state wouldn’t be picking up the same level of tax to finance our public services. The amounts are so dizzying that they escape common understanding – but it’s a reality around the whole world.”
Outlets such as Le Parisien outlined the details of the contract extension Kylian Mbappé signed with Paris Saint-Germain last May, which consists of a three-year deal with figures reportedly seeing him earn €630m in gross salary, the biggest ever handed to a sportsperson. However, Paris Saint-Germain denied these reports.
