PSG predicted lineup v Juventus: Lionel Messi starts up front, Neymar absent
Consecutive draws against Benfica earlier this month leave Paris Saint-Germain needing to better the Portuguese side’s result tonight to top the group, as they travel to face Juventus.
Christophe Galtier is expected to put out what is effectively a first-choice team, save for the absence of Neymar, whose third yellow card in European competition this season against Maccabi Haifa means he misses the game through suspension.
Lionel Messi, though, is expected to continue his run of never starting on the bench this season and push up to partner Kylian Mbappé on the forward line, in the Brazilian’s absence. Carlos Soler moves into the playmaker role after an impressive week that saw him score two in as many games.
The four-man defence gets another run-out, with Galtier ostensibly intending to stick with the revamped backline for good, now – Achraf Hakimi returns to the lineup after a breather at the weekend, while Presnel Kimpembe is once again out, suffering an Achilles issue just a week into his return from a thigh injury.
PSG predicted XI v Juventus:
Gianluigi Donnarumma – Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos, Juan Bernat – Fabián Ruiz, Marco Verratti, Vitinha – Carlos Soler – Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé. (via L’Éq)
