Everton transfer news: Cenk Tosun will NOT be leaving on loan after approach from Crystal Palace is rejected

Everton have rejected an approach by Crystal Palace to sign Cenk Tosun on loan, according to reports. Tousn has scored just twice in 16 appearances for the Toffees this season and has fallen out of favour under boss Marco Silva. Most of those appearances have come from the substitute’s bench, with record signing Richarlison preferred as the spearhead to their attack. The Liverpool Echo report that Everton have dismissed an approach from Palace about the possibility of signing the Turkey forward on loan. They signed the 27-year-old for £27million just 12 months ago, but will now be willing to accept around £20million for him. Premier League strugglers Huddersfield Town are…

Millwall 3-2 Everton: Toffees’ wretched form continues after controversial FA Cup defeat to Lions

A late strike from Murray Wallace secured Millwall a 3-2 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Premier League Everton. Defender Wallace calmly dispatched the stoppage-time goal as Neil Harris’ side rallied from going behind on two occasions to shock the Toffees, with the hosts profiting from Jake Cooper’s controversial equaliser. Defender Cooper appeared to nudge home Millwall’s second goal with his arm, but referee Michael Oliver still awarded the goal despite consultation with his assistants. Richarlison’s opener was quickly cancelled out by Lee Gregory’s neat header, with influential defender Cooper claiming the assist. Cenk Tosun had only been on the field seven minutes when he slotted his third goal of the…

Callum Hudson-Odoi refuses to rule out Chelsea departure and Blues fans beg him to stay

Callum Hudson-Odoi refused to rule out a move to Bayern Munich after scoring during the Blues’ 3-0 FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. The teenage sensation started despite reportedly submitting a transfer request in an effort to force through a move to Germany ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline and he netted Chelsea’s second after 64 minutes. Fans were heard chanting ‘Hudson-Odoi, we want you to stay’, but speaking to the BBC after the game, the winger was unable to commit his future to Chelsea. “I don’t know (if this is my final game). I can’t say. I keep working hard. You never know what happens,” he said. And Chelsea…

Gonzalo Higuain was supposed to take Chelsea penalty instead of Willian, Gianfranco Zola reveals

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola revealed Gonzalo Higuain was on penalty duties during the 3-0 FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Willian put Chelsea in front from the spot, but he appeared to offer the ball to Chelsea’s debutant, however Higuain declined the opportunity. Many praised Willian for the gesture, but it seems the striker was in fact the man who relinquished responsibilities. And speaking to talkSPORT after the game, Zola admitted he was surprised the loanee didn’t take the chance to open his Chelsea account. “In the list, he [Higuain] was the first one to take the penalty,” he said. “But they spoke to each other – sometimes this…

Fernando Llorente: Tottenham star Eric Dier speaks out about Spaniard after Harry Kane injury

Eric Dier has backed Fernando Llorente to fill the void left by the injured Harry Kane. The England captain will be sidelined until early March after damaging ligaments in his ankle earlier this month. The absence of Kane and Heung-Min Son, who is on international duty with South Korea, saw Llorente line up against Fulham on Sunday in his first league league start in over a year. The Spaniard, 33, had an afternoon to forget after scoring an own goal as Spurs came from behind to net an injury-time winner at Craven Cottage. But Dier, who made his return as a 79th-minute substitute since having his appendix removed, is confident…

Mauricio Pochettino suggests he will not join Manchester United as he vows to stick with Tottenham ‘until the end’

Mauricio Pochettino has promised to stick with Tottenham until he achieves all of the club’s goals. The Spurs boss is reportedly among one of Manchester United’s first picks to become their next permanent manager. He has been forced to defend his managerial record in recent days after Tottenham crashed out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in the space of 72 hours last week. And while the club are yet to win a trophy under his reign, Pochettino stressed he has overachieved by providing regular Champions League football and the club are a victim of their own success. How many minutes players aged 22 or under have played at every Premier League club this season

One of the Premier League’s classic quotes came from Liverpool legend Alan Hansen. At the start of the 1995/96 campaign, after a Manchester United defeat to Aston Villa included six Under-20 players, including members of the Class of ’92, he said: “You can’t win anything with kids.” The Reds Devils went on to lift not only the league trophy but the FA Cup at the end of the campaign as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side completed the Double. Even after this, clubs find it hard to trust in youth, and many managers ultimately prefer playing experienced professionals over giving talented youngsters a chance. At Chelsea right now, Callum Hudson-Odoi, 18, is…
