Arsenal transfer latest: Mesut Ozil ‘turns down’ Paris Saint-Germain move, Gunners still working on Christopher Nkunku deal
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has rejected the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.
Suddeutsche Zeitung claim the Germany midfielder does not want to move to Ligue 1 on a loan deal, with PSG hoping to add to their squad before Thursday evening’s transfer deadline.
Neymar, the Brazil forward, has been ruled out for 10 weeks due to injury and Thomas Tuchel is considering replacements.
Ozil will not be one of the options, however, as he’s rejected an offer from the Parc des Princes club.
The 30-year-old has found himself out of favour at the Emirates this season, starting just 13 league matches since Unai Emery was appointed the club’s manager last summer.
Despite failing to get Ozil off their books, Arsenal are still hoping to tie up the signing of Christopher Nkunku.
Talks are ongoing with PSG over a deal for Nkunku, with the attacking midfielder expected to join the Gunners on loan with an option to buy him outright at the end of the season.
Nkunku is likely to become Arsenal’s second signing of the January window after Denis Suarez, the Barcelona midfielder, joined the north London club on loan earlier this week.
According to the Daily Mail, PSG are also considering a late swoop for Willian, the Chelsea winger, with a move for Ozil now off the table.
