Arsenal transfer latest: Denis Suarez loan signing ‘to be confirmed’, Gunners chasing Yannick Carrasco, plus talks ‘complicated’ for Christopher Nkunku
The end of the transfer window is shaping up to be a busy one for all concerned at Arsenal.
On Monday, manager Unai Emery said he expected one or two signings to be made before the mid-season market slams shut.
Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez is set to be confirmed on Wednesday, but who else could make a last-minute move to north London?
Denis Suarez
Arsenal are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.
The midfielder will sign for the Gunners for the rest of the season and an option to buy him permanently in the summer has reportedly been included in the deal.
The 25-year-old is primarily a central midfielder but can also play on the flanks – where he was used under Emery at Sevilla in the 2014/15 season.
Yannick Carrasco
In a dramatic turn of events Arsenal are now looking to sign Belgian midfielder Yannick Carrasco on loan instead of Ivan Perisic, according to the Mirror.
Perisic had been strongly linked with the the club and Inter director Guiseppe Marotta confirmed he handed in a transfer request on Sunday.
But the clubs are cannot agree the move as Inter want Perisic to be signed permanently whereas Arsenal have made it clear they cannot do permanent deals this window.
Emirates chiefs have now turned their attention to Carrasco and want to sign the former Atletico Madrid winger on loan with an option to buy him permanently in the summer.
Carrasco is currently playing his football for Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang – but is reportedly unhappy and wants to return to Europe.
Christopher Nkunku
Another player linked with a move to Arsenal is PSG youngster Christopher Nkunku.
Formerly a dribbling wide man, Nkunku moved inside and showed ability not only as a progressive central star but also as a capable holding midfielder.
However, his agent José-Pierre Fanfan has told Canal+ that although the Gunners are keen on signing him, negotiations for the player are “complicated.”
He said: “There is a real interest from Arsenal for Nkunku, but the discussions are quite complicated.
“There are restrictions from Arsenal’s side, they cannot do a transfer in the middle of the season.
“It is still being discussed with PSG, things could still happen in the next 48 hours, but as I said, the fact that I am here means that it does not look good.”
Youri Tielemans
Leicester City are set to land the Belgium midfielder on loan from Monaco in a swap deal for Adrien Silva.
Arsenal, though, upon hearing about his availability did express and interest in Tielemans but Leonardo Jardim, back in charge at the Stade Louis II, reportedly wants Silva so much a deal with any other club will not be sanctioned.
Idrissa Gueye
The Everton midfielder is a wanted man this transfer window and following rejected bids from Paris Saint-Germain it now appears Arsenal could make a late move.
But given the Gunners’ inability to do any permanent business in the current market it’s likely this would only happen in the summer if PSG fail in their attempts to lure him across the Channel.
