Arsenal transfer news: Denis Suarez loan to be done ‘in next few hours’ after he signs contract extension with Barcelona

The deal to bring Denis Suarez to Arsenal on loan could be completed “in the next few hours,” according to reports.

The move for the Barcelona midfielder had hit a stumbling block as the La Liga giants wanted a commitment from Arsenal’s end to buy Suarez at the end of the loan spell.

They wanted this clause included as Suarez would be entering the final year of his contract and therefore his value would decrease – should Arsenal decide not to sign him on a permanent basis.

However, Mundo Deportivo claim that this issue has now been resolved, as Suarez has agreed to a one-year contract extension at the Camp Nou.

This means Suarez’s contract with Barcelona will now run until 2021.

The loan move to Arsenal can now be completed with an option to buy at the end as opposed to a commitment too.

The Spanish publication also reported that the Catalan club have received offers from Sevilla and Real Betis, but Suarez turned them down as he wants to join Unai Emery at Arsenal.

Emery revealed in his pre-match press conference on Monday that the club were looking to bring two players in on loan before the January transfer window closes on Thursday.

Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic is the other player who has been mooted with a move to the Emirates.

Perisic, 29, has handed in a transfer request at the San Siro in a bid to push through a move away from the club this month.
