Hatem Ben Arfa on playing for France again

Speaking to reporters following OGC Nice’s emphatic 9-man 4-1 away victory against St Étienne, Hatem Ben Arfa was asked about the possibility of playing for the French national team.

He had the following to say:

“No, I need to confirm my form in the long term. It is good, I have had a good start to the season, but the French national team is still far away. Here I am doing everything to do the maximum for my team, if I can do that over a long period of time, why not but now it is a bit early (to be talking about it)… It is far away, but why not. The French national team has lots of good players, there is already a solid squad in place that has been together for a long time. It will be difficult to enter that. But it is up to me to prove myself on the pitch to try to be there. But it is still far away.”
