PLAYER RATINGS | PSG 2-0 Monaco, a routine win for PSG over a tired looking Monaco
Ligue 1 21/22, round 18 – 12/12/21
PSG – 2 (Mbappé 12, 45)
Gianluigi Donnarumma, 5 – He did well to close down and save at Ben Yedder’s feet in the first half but had one or two shaky moments as well.
Achraf Hakimi, 5
Marquinhos, 4 – Very little to do overall but was lucky to get away with a weak challenge on Ben Yedder on the edge of the area in the first half, a fortunate rebound saving him.
Abdou Diallo, 5
Juan Bernat, 5
Marco Verratti, 5 – Showed relatively little imagination by his standards and was lucky to get away with an early loss of the ball which led to Diop hitting the post, but got through a lot of midfield work.
Georginio Wijnaldum, 3 – Had very little effect on the game and scooped over horribly after a cut back early on.
Idrissa Gueye, 6 – Led the way in winning the midfield battle with his dynamism, making the most pressures and the most blocks for Paris.
Ángel Di María, 5 – Won the penalty but didn’t get out of second gear and didn’t need to.
Lionel Messi, 6 – Linked well with Mbappé at times and he picked up Fofana’s errant pass before his run and pass set up the second and was able to stroll through what was a simple win.
Kylian Mbappé, 7 – Played with significant intensity compared to the rest and had the beating of Sidibe throughout. He also scored the penalty and emphatically stroked home the second for 2-0, it was PSG’s only shot on target other than the penalty.
Others: Herrera 5, Icardi 5, Paredes 5, Kehrer 5.
MONACO – 0
Alexander Nübel, 5
Djibril Sidibé, 2 – Very clumsy to concede the early penalty, leaving his foot in on Di Maria, and had no answer to Mbappe’s pace and skill.
Axel Disasi, 5
Guillermo Maripán, 4 – Miss-controlled after the ball fell to him in the 6-yard area with the goal at his mercy.
Caio Henrique, 4
Youssouf Fofana, 3 – Played a terrible square ball which directly led to PSG’s second just before the break, a frustration for his manager all season, and was outclassed by Gueye and Verratti.
Aurélien Tchouaméni, 5
Sofiane Diop, 6 – Monaco’s most lively forward in the first half by some distance, notably robbing Verratti to hit the post early on.
Gelson Martins, 4
Aleksandr Golovin, 6 – Grew into the game and was a real threat on the second half running at PSG’s back line and was the only Monaco man to look to test Donnarumma.
Wissam Ben Yedder, 3
Others: Jakobs 5, Boadu 4, Lucas 5, Matazo 4, Iisdor 5.
