Heung-Min Son: A stat to prove how badly Tottenham need their star scoring goals against Watford

Fresh from their two Cup exits, Tottenham host Watford in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Spurs lost to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday, then Crystal Palace dumped them out of the FA Cup four days later.

In between that, though, there was good news when South Korea were dumped out of the Asian Cup, meaning Heung-Min Son is returning early.

Tottenham are without Harry Kane and Dele Alli until March, but can now call upon Son, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and created seven.

In fact, against Watford, 11 of the 15 Premier League goals Spurs have scored against the Hornets – under manager Mauricio Pochettino – have been tucked away by Alli, Kane and Son.

“He’s so tired, he played three games. Very tough games,” Pochettino said when discussing Son’s return to training.

“We hope he’ll be available and ready on Wednesday to help the team.”

Pochettino will use Son as he tries to maintain Tottenham’s push for a top-four finish in the Premier League, an achievement the Argentine says is still their main target.

Having won 2-1 at Vicarage Road in September, Watford are looking to do the league double over Spurs for the very first time.

If they do win, Watford could become the first side to do the league double over a ‘big six’ side from outside of those clubs since the 2015/16 season when West Ham beat Liverpool and Newcastle beat Tottenham.

Spurs, though, are unbeaten in their last seven home games against Watford in all competitions (won six, drawn one) since a 2-3 League Cup loss in October 1994.
