Chelsea transfer news: Blues target Leandro Paredes on his way to Paris Saint-Germain after ‘deal agreed’ with Zenit St Petersburg

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Chelsea target Leandro Paredes.

Paredes had been touted as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas who joined Monaco earlier this month.

The midfielder is set to join the French champions, though, after a €47million deal was agreed, according to L’Equipe.

They are also reporting that he will join PSG on a four-and-a-half year deal from Zenit St Petersburg.

This comes just a day after the Ligue 1 side’s target Frenkie De Jong signed for Barcelona.

De Jong is understood to have always preferred a move to the Spanish club rather than the French capital.

It means PSG have turned their attention to Paredes during the January transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri has been keen to fill the void left by Fabregas’ departure to Ligue 1.

The Blues had two names on their wanted list, Nicolo Barella and Paredes, but neither seem likely to make a move to the Premier League this month.

They must now decide if they want to sign another midfielder during the January window or wait until the summer to find a replacement.
