How many minutes players aged 22 or under have played at every Premier League club this season

One of the Premier League’s classic quotes came from Liverpool legend Alan Hansen.

At the start of the 1995/96 campaign, after a Manchester United defeat to Aston Villa included six Under-20 players, including members of the Class of ’92, he said: “You can’t win anything with kids.”

The Reds Devils went on to lift not only the league trophy but the FA Cup at the end of the campaign as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side completed the Double.

Even after this, clubs find it hard to trust in youth, and many managers ultimately prefer playing experienced professionals over giving talented youngsters a chance.

At Chelsea right now, Callum Hudson-Odoi, 18, is fighting for game time at Stamford Bridge but has the likes of Willian, Pedro, and Eden Hazard to get past.

He clearly has the talent, which is why the Blues are refusing to sell him to Bayern Munich, despite several big-money offers.

But when you have only played 61 minutes of action, it’s easy to see why players like Hudson-Odoi would have his head turned by first-team minutes elsewhere.
