Sardar Azmoun has agreement with Lyon, but deal is far off
As reported by Foot Mercato, Iranian international striker Sardar Azmoun has agreed personal terms with Lyon ahead of a possible January transfer move from Zenit St Petersburg.
26-year-old Azmoun is out of contract with the Russian side in summer and has agreed a 4.5 year contract with Ligue 1 outfit OL.
However, Les Gones are not willing to pay more than €3m to sign him next month, for a player who is a free agent in summer.
This may prove problematic for OL, as Azmoun is also attracting major interest from Premier League side Newcastle United. Zenit are trying to leverage this situation to get more money from OL. Azmoun’s priority is Lyon, but the race is open as it stands.
L’Équipe have reported earlier this week that Newcastle have also made an initial approach for French youth international forward Moussa Dembélé, but talks have not reached a serious point as it stands.
