PLAYER RATINGS | Lyon 1-1 PSG, Paris again fail to convince but escape with a draw
LYON – 1 (Paquetá 7)
Anthony Lopes, 4 – Made a good fingertip save from a Marquinhos chip in the first half and a handful of useful interventions besides but was badly at fault for the equaliser as Kehrer’s bobbling shot bounced over his foot.
Damien Da Silva, 6
Jérôme Boateng, 6
Castello Lukeba, 6 – Another assured display from the young defender, a crucial second-half block from Icardi at the near post was a highlight.
Léo Dubois, 5
Emerson Palmieri, 5
Bruno Guimarães, 6 – It was his superb arrowed long ball that found Paquetá for the early goal and his use of the ball was neat and precise throughout even if he was afforded very few chances to create.
Maxence Caqueret, 5
Lucas Paquetá, 7 – A precise finish opened the scoring early on after a superb piece of control and, although he was only fleetingly involved overall, his invention and timing on the counter were key to all that Lyon produced in an attacking sense.
Houssem Aouar, 6 – Tested Navas early on, although he might have done better from a tight angle, and was a skilful threat when the play opened up for him against Dagba especially. But, once again, he faded badly after halftime having been the first half’s standout player.
Moussa Dembélé, 5
Others: Cherki 6, Gusto 5.
PSG – 1 (Kehrer 76)
Keylor Navas, 6 – Not much he could about the goal and made two good low saves from Aouar early on and Dembélé when one on one just before the hour.
Colin Dagba, 4 – Outplayed and outmanoeuvred by Aouar in the first half and needed support but was well positioned to block a close-range Aouar shot at the end of a Lyon counter just before the hour.
Marquinhos, 6
Presnel Kimpembe, 7 – Alert and proactive throughout and made a string of good interventions in the second half.
Nuno Mendes, 3
Leandro Paredes, 3
Ander Herrera, 4
Marco Verratti, 5
Georginio Wijnaldum, 3 – Not far off a 2. Completely anonymous and seemed unsure as to what his role was in a more advanced position than he’s used to. His move has been a disaster so far.
Mauro Icardi, 3
Kylian Mbappé, 6 – In and out of the game and didn’t always make the right decision but hit the post twice. Firstly with a lovely bending effort just before halftime and then with a late free-kick from a tight angle. He was comfortably PSG’s most dangerous player.
Others: Michut 5, Simons 5, Kehrer 6, Ebimbe 5.
