6/26/19 WWE NXT Recap

The show opens with a video recap of the NXT TakeOver: XXV match between Io Shirai and Shayna Baszler, in which Baszler retained the NXT Women’s Championship Match. They will meet tonight inside of a steel cage, and the title will be on the line one more.
The opening credits roll. Beth Phoenix, Mauro Ranallo, and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary.

Match #1 – NXT Breakout Tournament First Round Match: Jaoquin Wilde vs. Angel Garza
Wilde backs Garza into the ropes and applies a side headlock. He drops Garza with an arm-drag, but neither man gains a advantage after a quick back and forth. Wilde takes Garza down with a cross-body and goes for the cover, but Garza kicks out. Garza comes back and takes Wilde to the mat and kicks him in the chest. Garza wraps Wilder in the corner and delivers a knee strike. Garza delivers a face-buster and goes for the cover, but Wilde kicks out at two. Garza delivers a chop and then a dropkick. Garza goes for the cover, but Wilde kicks out at two. Garza applies a straitjacket submission, but Wilde reverses into his own straitjacket hold. Garza gets free with kicks to the head, but Wild takes Garza down with a flying clothesline. Wilde goes for the cover, but Garza kicks out at two. Garza goes to the floor, but Wilde takes him out with a suicide dive.
Wilde tosses Garza into the ring and climbs, but Garza delivers an enzuiguri. Garza delivers forearm shots and then delivers an avalanche Spanish Fly from the top. Garza goes for the cover, but Wilde kicks out at two. Garza delivers a double under-hook stunner and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Angel Garza

A vignette for Kushida airs. He says the position he is in is interesting. He wonders who his next opponent will be. He says he is in NXT to face the best in the world. He says he will face everyone and says the time belongs to him.
An interview with Damian Priest airs. Priest says there will be plenty of time for questions, and unlike everyone else, the name of Damian Priest will live forever.

Match #2 – Tag Team Match: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) (w/Jaxson Ryker)
Cutler and Ford start the match and Cutler backs Ford into the corner. Blake tags in and stomps Ford down to the mat. Cutler tags back in and goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Blake tags back in and they slam Ford to the mat. Ford gets away and tags in Dawkins. Dawkins runs over Blake and Cutler and slams them to the mat with suplexes. Dawkins splashes them in the corner as Ford tags in. Dawkins slams Cutler to the mat and Ford hits the frog splash, but Ryker pulls Ford out of the ring and the referee calls for the bell.
Winners via disqualification: The Street Profits
-After the match, The Sons gets the numbers advantage, but Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan rush the ring. The Profits and the Brit-Am Brawlers clear the ring and then Lorcan and Burch grab the title belts. They hand them to The Profits and Burch says The Profits owe them.

Aliyah and Vanessa Borne cut a promo on Mia Yim. Aliyah says she is glad she gets the chance to keep Yim “in her place.”

Match #3 – Singles Match: Nykos Rikos vs. Keith Lee
Rikos slaps Lee across the chest, but Lee responds with a slap of his own. Lee connects with the Pounce and then delivers the Limit Breaker for the pin fall.
Winner: Keith Lee

A video for the NXT Champion, Adam Cole, airs. He says he is traveling all over the word defending his title, which is something that Johnny Gargano knew nothing about. The video ends with Cole outside of a coffee shop called Gargano’s.
Next week: Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Cameron Grimes in the NXT Breakout Tournament, and Roderick Strong vs. Tyler Breeze.

Match #4 – NXT Women’s Championship – Steel Cage Match: Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Io Shirai
Baszler takes Shirai down with a front face-lock, and looks to turn it into the Kirifuda Clutch. Shirai rolls over and delivers a few quick shots, but Baszler gets free and stomps on Shirai’s hand. Baszler goes for the door, but Shirai trips her up. Shirai delivers a dropkick and smacks Baszler in the face. Shirai begins to climb, but Baszler pulls her down and slams her into the cage. Baszler slams Shirai into the cage again and then wrenches her neck. Baszler slams Shirai into the cage again and goes for the cover, but Shirai kicks out at two. Shirai tries to fight back, but Baszler slams her into the cage again. Baszler clubs Shirai in the back and goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two. Baszler wrenches Shirai’s neck again, but Shirai gets free and dropkicks Baszler into the cage.
Shirai delivers double knee to Baszler and then delivers a suplex.
Shirai goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two. Shirai delivers another suplex, and then delivers double knees in the corner. Shirai climbs to the top of the cage, but Baszler cuts her off. Baszler throws Shirai to the mat, but Shirai gets back up and delivers a suplex from the ropes. Shirai goes for the cover, but Baszler kick out at two. Shirai crawls toward the door, but Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke run down. They slam the door, but Shirai kicks the door into them and the referee on the outside. Shirai keeps Baszler down, but Shafir gets back up and locks the door. Shirai climbs the cage, as does Shafir. Shafir slams Shirai into the cage and Candice LeRae runs down. LeRae knocks Shafir to the floor and Duke gets into the ring. Duke splashes down onto Baszler and Duke as Shirai is still up top.
Baszler takes out LeRae and then Shirai connects with a moonsault from the top of the cage. Shirai and Baszler both crawl toward the door and Baszler drags Shirai away. Shirai gets in front again and kicks Baszler away. Shirai gets halfway out the door, but Baszler stops her and locks in the Kirifuda Clutch in the ropes. Shirai grabs the door and slams it into Baszler’s head, but Baszler falls out of the cage and hits the floor.
Winner and still NXT Women’s Champion: Shayna Baszler
-After the match, Shirai attacks LeRae. Shirai looks shocked as what she has done and leaves the cage. She grabs a chair and tosses it into the cage, however.
