– The show opened with an excellent video package showcasing Buddy Murphy having to find himself after leaving NXT and all the work he’s done to cut weight and become a consistent member of the 205 Live roster. It ends with footage of Cedric Alexander reminding everyone that he’s worked just as hard, had to cut weight to make the Cruiserweight Classic, and has earned his spot by winning the title at WrestleMania 34.

JACK GALLAGHER & BRIAN KENDRICK def. KALISTO & LINCE DORADO. Solid opening match. Drew Gulak sat ringside throughout and spread his anti-high-flying propaganda, even shaking hands with the winners after the bout. Lince did a beautiful springboard stunner that looked like the finish, but Gulak caused a distraction to allow the heels to steal the win.

– The 205 Live roster were interviewed backstage about who they wanted to win tonight’s main event bout for the Cruiserweight Championship. The babyfaces and heels basically fell along party lines.

CEDRIC ALEXANDER vs. BUDDY MURPHY

Big fight feel in the air as the two went right after each other with wild strikes and kicks early on. Cedric looked to fly but Murphy made him pay for him, and from there slowed the match down and worked it at his pace. They fought at ringside, on top of the announce table, on the apron; you could really tell both of these men needed to win, and wanted to hurt each other even more. Cedric hurt his back early on when he got thrown hard into the edge of the commentary table, so that became a factor throughout the match as well.

Eventually the champion fought back with a big superkick and flew again, this time connecting with a tope con hilo as the crowd chanted “THIS IS AWESOME!” After both guys unloaded basically everything in their arsenals the match broke down into back and forth forearm shots on the apron. Cedric hit a Flatliner on the edge of the ring which killed both guys, to the point where they teased a double count-out but both rolled in just before ten.

More forearm shots, more superkicks back and forth. Cedric hit a sick DDT but it wasn’t enough. Murphy hit an even more brutal DDT but it wasn’t enough. The challenger connected with a Kenny Omega-like running knee, but still only got two-and-a-half. Murphy hit a series of powerbombs rolling the champion into another devestating knee strike. Two. Alexander rallied back and got the crowd behind him, as he connected with a Neuralizer! He knew it wasn’t going to be enough this time, and hit a second Neuralizer, followed by another Lumbar Check. 1…2…3.
